Melaka to Muar Trip

Drove to Muar on Saturday but spent a night on the way at Melaka . Muar is about 1 hour drive on the old road from Melaka . I could have done a day trip to Muar but a day drive can be tiring . Furthermore, I do treat my drives to Muar to see the house as an outstation outing. I did not want to spend a night in Muar in a hotel because I suspect that the hotels in Muar would be crappy . Rather spend a night in Melaka as there are better hotels in Melaka and Melaka is rather more ” happening ” . Many tourists and more interesting eating places.

Stayed in the Baba House , a restored old Baba house cum hotel in Melaka around Jonkers Street area . The hotel had many courtyards which is typical of baba houses of that time . Had to park behind the hotel as the frontage is the main street . Had to drive around the hotel and get into the parking from the side street at the back of the hotel. This is because this is the old part of Melaka .

The hotel is bigger than it looks from the façade actually . The only complaint I have of the hotel was that we got a deluxe room with no window that can be claustrophobic. There was an air well and that’s fine for 1 night stay . But the next time , if I were to stay in the hotel would request a room with a balcony because then there would be a window with an outside view of the street .

The hotel was 4 star because probably with no proper pool but they had wading pools at the roof top . I do not really know how much per night the hotel was because I redeem my Enrich points so I did not pay for the hotel stay . We did not have breakfast because my aunt is not a breakfast person and we wanted to leave early to Muar and have breakfast in Muar.

We took a walk to Jonkers Street . The street is pedantized on Saturday night . There was a Saturday night market and it was hot walking.

Decided to go into Hard Rock Cafe Melaka . Yes, Melaka got Hard Rock , unbelievable and there was a live band belting out songs starting from 9 pm. Not tooo bad… Melaka … After dinner , we walked back to the hotel , so many many tourists .

I cannot imagine a Portuguese Man of War coming into the river really ! All the bechas ( trishaws ) were so brightly lit up at night giving a festive air to the place.

I have deadlines for work and here I am writing on my blog!
