3rd Day in Egypt ;Visit to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo

I went to the Egyptian Museum in Cairo to have a look at the artifacts and mummies . There are only 2 mummies left in the museum because 22 mummies have been transferred to the National Museum at Giza ,if I am not mistaken . This museum was buildt in 1924 so has a art decor style which is pleasing architecturally .

The museum had an array of coffins , some wooden ( from sycamore trees) and in a special room ( gold but we are not allowed to take photographs there ) . Amazing collection .

Wooden coffins but no bodies inside . This museum is like visiting a huge graveyard, in a way .
There are like 3 coffins as above ; whereby each one is peeled to reveal the mummy inside

The 2 mummies ; male and female . So menakutkan , am sure there are spirits wandering around
Lung,intestine ,liver and stomach are mummified and put in alabaster jarsfor perservation. Macabre la .

The internal organs are also placed in these elaborate boxes next to the coffins .

They found gold mask and gold jewellery but we were not allowed to take photos of this .

I liked this museum very much . It sits next to the Nile and in downtown Cairo , a strategic spot . I thought this museum deserve a posting on its own as before visiting this museum, we went to Ali Basha Mosque Citadel Complex. I will try and post this as well as our shopping at the lovely perfume shop .
