After visiting Karnak Temple , we went to have a look at Luxor Temple which was nearby . The Luxor Temple was open till 8 pm and magrib is around 5.30 pm. I really liked this temple too .

The ancient egyptians had 700 god and goddnesses !! That required me to reflect that even worshipping 1 god requires much devotion and energy, let alone 700 ! To be fair to the ancient egyptians , they tried to categorize the gods/ goddnesses , must have some kind of taxonomy of gods ! Hahaha

Luxor , the ancient name of Thebes is at the banks of the Nile .This temples as many of the temples are funeral temples . We think that these ancient Egyptian kings live to die , in a way . They seem fixated on death and the After Life and did believe in the concept of Heaven and Hell.

The masjid was build in the Temple , and the columns of the masjid is the columns of the Temple . There is also a small church underneath the masjid , so amazing. I am beginning to sound like Shahinaz ( our lady guide in Cairo ) who keeps using this word ” amazing ” ( probably due to a lack of vocub, haha ) .This temple had to be excavated as mud & debris from the floods of the Nile had completely covered it . People lived in the temple and made their homes before the acheocholigical significance of such a site was realized .

Quite a spectacular temple but a small one as compared to the Karnak Temple .
