Valley of the Kings ; Tomb of Rameses IX

I am not finished yet on these tombs haha .. They are fascinating . I bought a book on the Valley of the Kings at the Luxor Museum on the tombs . We only managed to visit 4 tombs but there were other tombs open to the public but for extra fees.

We visited this tomb after Rameses IV . This tomb was a bit different and I could not find the explanation about this tomb in my book that I bought. The book is a thin book because I do not want to lug heavy books in my luggage .

The entrance into the tomb

This is the astronomical ceiling of the burial chamber with the sky goddness Nut
The burial chamber . The guard in the tomb took these photos . Gave him a small tip .
The ceiling
The Nile crocodile
The boat carrying the King to the After Life . Anubis is seen here . I find Anubis a frightening figure .
Photo taken by the guard at the side of the burial chamber
Quite steep steps to get into the burial chamber
Depictions on the burial chamber
These are the steps leading out of the tomb

To think of it , this is visiting graves with the bodies not there . I need to read more on ancient Egypt because the choronological sequence of kings and the fact that I am completely bemused on the history of the many kings of Ancient Egypt . I am also finding it difficult to get my head around on the 4000-5000 years ago thingy .

Also, that was writing existing in the form of heliogrpyhics is mind boggling as this is like 4 000 years ago . Our Malay Sultans are illiterate ( buta huruf) and had to have writers / middlemen ( like Munshi Abdullah ) while the ancient egyptians had already a written language .

The tombs are just amazing !!
