Aswan Dam

Today, we woke up and the boat has docked at Aswan . Aswan is a town of 1 million population .

We went to visit Aswan Dam today ; to see the old Dam made by the British and the newer dam that provides hydro-electric to the whole of Egypt .

Bunga Tahi Ayam at the Dam , like the purple color
Boat scene from our breakfast window . The Nile is very pretty in Aswan .
Rahiyah feeding the strays at the dam . She makes it a point at every meal to collect food to feed the strays cats or dogs that we see on the street .
The Nile being dammed which means there are no flooding on the banks

There are challenges when the Egyptian government decided to dam the Nile . One of the challenges included relocating numerous ancient temples along the banks at the same site but on higher ground . The Egyptians got help and funding from UNESCO and 35 countries . This relocation of many temples took place from 1962 to 1971 .
