Faluca Ride back to the boat

We got a faluca ride back to the boat . Faluca is a sail boat on the Nile . Just for information , 80 % of the Nile that flows into Egypt comes from the Blue Nile whose origins are from Ethiopia . Only 20 % of the Nile that flows into Egypt comes from the White Nile whose origins are from Lake Victoria . Ethiopia is building dams so this will affect the Nile that will affect Egypt .

On the other side of the banks of the Nile

The faluca docked at the nearby banks in which there were stone steps that leads one to the bank. That was pretty dicey as there was a plank provided by the faluca with rungs that you need to cross over to get to the stone steps. Then you had to clamber on the stone steps to get onto the banks . One false step and you are in the Nile !! Man oh man . Managed to get onto to the banks safely, thank gawd with the help of the guide and the men from the faluca .

We had to give tips to the men who helped us. This is a tipping culture as their base salary is pittance . In a way, we feel so sorry for the Egyptians as it like a matter of survival for them. Life is hard . Read that the Egyptian economy is experiencing like a whopping 36% inflation !

On the way to Abu Simmel Temple which is 256 km from Aswan. Woke up at 3 am to start the drive at 4 am. Hope the temple is worth the waking up so early .
