After the Aswan Dam , we took a short , pleasant boat ride to visit the Philea Temple situated at the Island of Philea . This temple’s original site has been submerged under water . Therefore , this temple has been relocated to Philea Island not far from the original site but on higher ground .

The man selling his wares on the boat . Kesian pulak kalau tak beli ( Feel sorry for him if we did not buy ) . Rahiyah & Saliha bought some stone bracelets , Nubian I believe .

Horus in the middle , behind him is his wife Hawthor and infront of Horus , is his mother Isis

This inner courtyard is interesting because each pillar has a cross because the Christains were here.

Inner courtyard was made into a church by the Christains during Roman times .

These ancient temples seems to have a common layout ; outer courtyard ( no roof ) ,inner courtyard ( with roof ) and a sanctuary . The sanctuary is whereby the King and the High Priest is only allowed in . This is usually at the back of the inner courtyard . The offerings made by King is taken by the High Priest & these offerings can be in the form crops , papayrus , gold etc. I thought that the High Priest is in an enviable position ! He gets all the offerings . I must say , I like this temple too because the architecture & layout of the temple complex and the novelty of taking a boat to visit the temple .
The next item on the agenda today is a faluca ride back to the boat .
