The second part of the temple consist of a separate temple for Rameses 11 favourite wife Nefartari. This temple which is much smaller lies around 500 metres from the bigger temple .

This is a smaller temple compared to the other one .Nefartari died and Rameses 11 married 2 of his daughters . All these etchings had heliogyphics which tells the story . So in this way , it is documented .

I bought a small book published by the American University of Cairo at Aswan Airport on hieroglyphic text but had no time to really read it .

Quite in awe in terms of how civilised the ancient Egyptians and to think they were literate 5,000 years ago and had a written language . This is a great achievement .
Also , bought a book on The Great Temple of Abu Simbel but read that halfway only . So was the 3 hour drive to the Great Temple of Abu Simbel , worth waking up so early ? The answer is a resounding Yes ! The Great Temple of Abu Simbel is magical to visit . Its one of the highlights of our Egyptian trip . Writing this blog at Cairo Airport waiting to board the flight to Doha .
