Day 4 – Shilparamam Heritage Village & Day 5 at Salar Jung Museum

On Day 4 , we set off to Shilparamam Heritage Village  in an Uber this time not an auto as the distance was quite far.

Dosen’t Sharmila look really nice in that outfit
School kids waiting for the Village to open at 10.30 am. School holidays .

Weather was just beautiful at 24c . Wish KL had this weather. Then it makes sense to have al fresco dining but KL is too hot & uncomfortably humid .

Open air venue at the village. A guy was practing a traditional dance for a performance . Sat here with my tea under a flowering mango tree watching the squirrels .
Hand loom sarees  . Brilliant colors
Did not buy this dhurrie. Pang of regret for not buying because was worried about being overweight for my luggage. Only rm125 , hand made , natural dye & jute /cotton . Lovely piece .

The next day on Day 5 we went to visit the Salar Jung Museum . Salar Jung is a noble family ( something like a dynasty too, I think ) in Hyderabad .  There were 5 Prime Ministers that came from this family who served the Nizam’s.

Entrance to Museum
Ok2x , chandeliers again

Incidentally , the building of this museum belong to the Salar Jung family whose descendants still reside in Hyderabad.

Many wings . Took me about 4 hrs to finish looking at the galleries . Need to come back at look at certain galleries at my own time .
Furniture & glassware is the private collection of the family
Miniature painting of a Sufi- rather like it and yes, would look nice on my wall .19th Century .
Miniature painting again. There are a few schools of style of miniature paintings by the way . Deccani is the area where Hyderabad is.
Miniature paintings are iconic in India . Rather liked the first miniature painting of the Sufi done in the 19th Century . Schools of miniature painting as above .
Isn’t this the epitome of India. Its a lovely piece with crystal elephant ears & half trunk  with a crystal stand .
One of the Salar Jung’s – gosh my sentence is not written in proper English !
Walking sticks with shoes as handles
Collection of walking sticks
Some lovely glassware from the private collection of the family. Liked these pieces very much .
Liked this Art Deco kinda lamp from India
Saw many pieces of glassware that had the word Osler. Found out its the name of a British glass making company ( now defunct like Waterford Glass ) . It seems these Osler glassware are highly sought collectibles !
Ewer
Glass lights
Collection of Chandeliers
Even liked this small chandelier

Spent 4 worthwhile hours in this museum. Some of the collections were not from Salar Jung family but the Historical Society of India. It was a fascinating museum . Had tea afterwards.

Took an auto home with Sharmila . That ends my short trip to Hyderabad . I have many more photos of the artifacts in the museum but I am too lazy to put those amazing artifacts in this post .

Enjoyed myself very much. But I think I am bias as I had always liked India like my dad . One needs to see past the abject poverty , the dirt & mass of humanity that hits you once you step into the country . India is a magnificant country with a rich history .
