Clearing a small piece of land in the kebun

Got all this little projects in my head . Got Hamid , the part time gardener to get some help to clear a small piece of land so that there is a small clearing . This is right after the fence in the kebun near the non-fruiting ( sigh ) mangosteen tree.

Before , this small piece had busuts ( ant hills / termite hills, I suspect ) . Hamid ( in pink ) with hired help clearing the land . The mangosteen tree on the left.
They have to use cangkuls which is hard labor .
Land cleared .

The piece of clearing is now flat but the soil is hard. The soil as it is cannot grow any plants but needs to have a layer of good top soil if I decide to grow any crops like maize or tapioca .

There are 2 problems to this 1)is the fencing so a small bulldozer/digger  ( mechanized equipment ) cannot go into the kebun . This means that any help needs manual labor to dig and plant. Unless,of course , the wired fence can be rolled up to allow digger to get into the kebun.

2) If I plant tapioca ( ubi ) or maize then this will attract wild boars because it loves this. I have to electrify by solar the perimeter or 1/3 of the kebun to deter the wild boar. The other way is to put zinc boards around the 1/3 of the kebun which is unsightly & zinc rusts. This is especially so if I am contemplating rearing chickens but not anytime soon.

Need to think the options over & discuss with Encik Rahman when I go back to Muar next but no hurry, really .
