Went on Sunday after breakfast to visit Ati, my cousin who is living at my late Aunt’s house in Johore Bahru . The house and land I bought in Muar was my late Aunt’s and after she died it was given to her only son , Yem , Ati is Yem’s sister . The house & kebun in Muar was my Aunt’s and we use to meet her in Muar as Muar is halfway between Kuala Lumpur and Johore Bahru . She has a rather old-fashioned bungalow in Johore Bahru which was her primary residence . So the house and kebun in Muar is like a weekend country retreat for her & her husband .

We got lost trying to find the house even using the darn GPS in the car so we were late arriving . Eventually managed to find the house as it was behind the Sultan’s horse polo grounds but the whole housing estate was gated . So we had to phone Ati and tell her to pick us up as we were clueless on how to get into the housing estate . I did not take a picture of the house because the house looks neglected and in need of a make-over ( this describes my father’s house in PJ too , sigh) . Felt rather sad about the house . The ground floor was reasonably cleaned but the upstairs was dusty as hell .

I managed to buy some pieces of my late Aunt’s crockery , was thinking I inherited tons of my mother crockery and odds & ends too but I wanted to remember my late Aunt as she was always so nice to me and my parents . She was my dad’s younger sister but she died earlier than my dad . I will probably put most of the items that I bought in Johore Bahru in the Muar house .

Bought 2 big bowls & about 20 plates of this Indian Tree design because I got the same design in terms of plates . My aunt bought these in England so did I so , it just adds to my collection . The Indian Tree design is from Johnson Bros , Stoke-on-Trent.

Bought red drinking glasses ( my aunt used to serve us in these glasses when we ate dinner at her house and I remember them )and cutlery too because I can use them in the house in Muar . I probably over paid Ati for these items but its fine , she needs the money. I wanted a garden bench wrought iron and an old cupboard but I have to come again and arrange for transport and get it repaired as they are worn out . I probably need to restore these 2 pieces but I will think about that later. Have no photos of these 2 pieces but I will take photos when I go down next to Johore Bahru.

Ati looked the same as her appearance is unkempt . I feel really sorry for her but feel powerless in a way , to help . I hope she will be fine & I told her if she wants to come to the Muar house to let me know anytime .
