In the morning , we ( Rahiyah and myself ) took a short walk for our morning cuppacino’s at the nearby cafe. This was around 8 am . Burano only gets busy after 10 am with day trippers till 6 pm then it becomes quiet again. The island depends on tourists for its livehood . I do not think fishing would be able to give much of an income to the people who live here. It must be seasonal for the people here because winter would be very quiet , I suspect .

We went to the bookstore Aqua alta, which had a gondola in the middle loaded with books. I bought a children sticker book of scenes in Venice for a friend’s little boy.
Sat on steps of the bridge and seeing all these gondolas passing by, quite a sight .

Today we trekked into Venice to visit the La Fenice theatre. There was a rehearsal being done while we were there . Sour Angelica by Puccini and sang beautifully by Ikumi Nakagawa. The story is about a girl who has a baby out of wedlock, gives the baby away and enters into a convent.
In one sentence,
A woman forced into a convent after having a child out of wedlock learns that her little boy has died, attempts suicide from grief, and receives a final vision of her child as she dies.
Not very cheerful la.

The La Fenice was burnt down twice once in 1836 and in 1996 by arson . It was completely restored and opened again on 14 Dec, 2003 . The restoration was very well done , I must say!
Then since we were feeling hungry we walked and got some snacks to eat because it will take us from Venice to Burano by vaporetto at least an hour.

4 of these were vegetarian and another 6 are seafood. The white stuff that you see on the cichetta are salted cod called Baccala Mantecato . I like this baccala mantecato very much as its mild in taste and not very salty. It can be a spread on morning toast . Ann bought a pack of baccala mantecato which cost €10 .I have been eating this for breakfast, its pretty good.
