I drove to Ostuni which is approximately 85 -90 km from Bari . This took maybe 1.5 hrs as I was driving in the slow lane .Rahiyah at the helm of navigating through google maps, she is pretty good and calm even when I have driven through a wrong turn . It really helps to have a driver and a navigator . The traffic wasn’t too bad as there were dual carriage highways which later merge to one single lanes as you drive into the smaller towns.

The countryside is basically olive groves and glimpses of the blue Adriatic Sea.

Parked the car at a free parking space. We walked up the steep hill as the old town was up on a hill for about 10-15 minutes. We decided to have a snack as we needed to use the toilets in the restaurant! We usually cannot spot the public toilets.

So we ordered octopus sandwich and shared the sandwich , it was delicious !

We just strolled around this small historical center ( historic storio ) Puglian town . It was a pretty town as much of the older dwellings ( people still lived in them ) were whitewashed . The town was on top of a hill and had panaromic views.

We just walked and walked. Weather was very fine .

Managed to buy local olive oil but only 100 ml tin . Of course, was tempted to buy more tin olive oil  but will wait for Sicily .

Ostuni is a pretty, white town .

The houses in this Puglia region all have flat roofs like in Bahrain. I am guessing that probably this region gets little rain . After this, we drove to a small town of Cisternino which was a 30 minute drive. This town is also on a hill. Had to walk steep hills to get to the old town.

Had a gelato of hazelnut & fig flavor . Thought that was interesting flavor . Many fig trees around too ,just like growing wild . Rahiyah is fixated on polpos ( octopus ) so we went to big Familia Supermarket to find tin polpos but none there. However bought pieces of pizza for dinner . The big piece of pizza was simply with tomatoes but its quite tasty. Think the tomatoes here of a good quality because the tomatoes were tasty . We arrived back at  about 7 pm.
