Piazza Bellini , Church of San Cataldo and Church of Saint Caterina

This church is stands opposite of Church of Santa Maria del Ammiraglio . This church is a UNESCO World Heritage site but it does not stand on its own but with 9 other component properties making up the UNESCO world Heritage Property .

The church with the distinctive 3 red domes

This is a much smaller church than the Church of Santa Maria del Ammiraglio . This church has no spectacular goldy2x mosaics on it’s ceiling but had a gorgeous mosaic flooring .

Mosaic work was wonderful

After that we  to visit another Church of Saint Caterina which is opposite of these 2 churches in Piazza Bellini.

UNESCO didn’t list these buildings merely because they’re old or beautiful. The reason is that together they demonstrate the extraordinary fusion of Western, Byzantine and Islamic cultures under the Norman Kingdom of Sicily.

St. Caterina is more of a Baroque style of architecture

There was a monastery attached to the church that we went & had a looked at the monastery in the church .

Marble inlay in the church at one of the chapels
The square next to the Confectionary
There is a Confectionary ( bakery ) operating in the Church. We did not buy anything especiallt the canolla because it was too big  and full of ricotta cheese
Passed these rooms with chandeliers galoee

Tiles of one of the floors in the Monastery
Views of the alter from the Monastery ( convent )
The nuns would be able to pray upstairs and look down to the congregration in the church

After the exit (ushita) of the church , we were ushered into this square ( another piazza) with a fountain.
