Montreale ,  an easy outing Oct 9, 2026

Today we drove to Montreale which is not too far . Montreale is like 19 km away from where we are staying but have to drive through kampung roads . The roads were quite narrow and hilly terrain.

Isnt the mango gelato scrumptious !!

I look in this photo and think I have the look of the cat who swallowed the cream ! We took an easy outing today as we drove to Montreale which is only 19 km away but took me 40 minutes to drive .

We parked the car below and climb the stairs to visit the cloisters and the Cathredral

We visited the cloisters first . The cloisters is basically a courtyard where monks or nuns walk around to think and contemplate . Hence, the term a ” cloistered life ” is derived from .

Mosaics on the pillars , Arab influence

The cloisters are attached to the Montreale Cathredral , entrance was 200 m from the Cloisters. Had a good look through the Cloister’s bookstore and bought a thin book ( thats all I can carry ) on the symbols in Sicily .

We ate a plate of fries with cheese and a pizza. Ordered wrongly as had ham on it but we gave the ham to Jannet to eat ! The pizza was interesting because it had a pistacho dressing on it .

Then we drove back. Rahiyah drove back so I could see the scenery . Its all hilly and narrow country lanes really.

It was raining this morning which is good for the vegetation and should dampen the forrest fires . Just waiting for the weather to clear abit before we go out but taking our time.
