Noto

Took an inter-bus from Siracusa to Noto which was about 55 minutes journey . Return trip by bus was €5.90 each. This part of Sicily seems better connected by buses and trains compared to western part of Sicily somehow.

Inter-bus is a private bus company in Sicily . Checked on this because I am puzzled as why I see  there are buses in this eastern corridor rather than the western side of Sicily . Inter-bus makes a profit from their annual reports but the bus does pick up passengers in the smaller towns on the way to Noto . I guess private entreprise & making money can also provide public services ! Interesting fact .

Gateway to centro historica of Noto

Noto is a baroque style town with much fine baroque style architecture . The bus stop was just 5 minutes to walk to Porto Reale ( the gateway ) to the old town center of Noto .

Narrow cobbled streets – everywhere in this part of Italy

Noto is a lovely town . I am impressed by the fine Baroque architecture .There were many tourists but not overwhelming .

Theartre was established in 19th Century, cant remember what year
Main drag again , do not remember the name of the road

Rahiyah is impressed that there was an office of Sotheby in Noto which says something for this small town ! Thiru recommended this cafe to so we walked there . The cafe was called Cafe Scilia , an old cafe and inside interiors were very nice ! Had an old world charm about it .

They use banana trees as decoration here
Had fried canola with chocolate custard cream ( not too sweet, was delicious ), a brioch ( so-so je ) and 1/2 choc cookies which was good too because not too sweet
Iced tea granita – asked by Thiru to try granitas which is shaved iced with various toppings
Their array of cakes on display. It was mainly a confectionary but according to Thiru’s readings the owner locally sourced out the ingredients

The main drag was really nice to walk as its the main road of the centrio historico . Weather was 24c and it wasn’t too hot .

Liked this iron planter – found it innovative

I like like like many many things I have seen in this part of Italy .

Bought from this shop Ortigia Scilia that sells bath salts, toileteries , body lotion and soaps . Bought 3 hand lotions in this tin box , gave this tin box to Rahiyah. Incidently, the 2 leopards are the symbols of Sicily . However, I found out historically that Sicily had no leopards so leopards were a symbol of strength and prowess.

We got the bus back to Siracusa. This time the bus was 10 minutes early ! Thank goodness,  we were at the bus stop early . This was a lovely, relaxing day outing !
